Dear member,

May I start with congratulating you for  joining South Yorkshire Asian Business Community (SYABC)  and personally thank you  for your support and sharing our vision.

As a community there was an urgent need to have an organisation that could collectively represent the business interests of those of us that have an Asian heritage. Asians make up the largest ethnic minority group in Yorkshire & Humber (8.9% 2021, Census data for England and Wales).  Overall, Companies being run by leaders from ethnic minority backgrounds contribute at least £74bn a year (OPEN, a London-based think-tank)   to the UK economy.

Whilst there are many such business organisations, it was felt that there is nothing in South Yorkshire which facilitates, promotes, advocates and encourages Asian business leaders to come together. It will be pivotal for the organisation to recognise excellence amongst the Asian businesses and be a strong voice in the community.

There is much work to be done in order to make such a venture successful and we will need to combine all our resources together.  I look forward to listening to your ideas and to truly make this organisation a reflection of all our collective values.
